Na di state police spokesman SP Chidi Nwabuzor nai tori dis banning tori for di statement wey him issued on Friday.
According to SP Chidi, wey tori say di Edo state commissioner of police, CP Funsho Adegboye, don advise officers and other men to stop to dey search citizen’s phones going forward, and dis instruction dey com from di inspector general of police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
Him come tori further say, di IGP Egbetokun, don ask zonal assistant inspectors generals (AIGs), command and formation commanders (CPs), to supervise their staff and discipline any officers wey nor comply with dis instructions.
On top dis instruction, di CP according to SP Chidi don tell both police officers and soldiers to change dis unprofessional way wey dem dey always carry search citizens phone, say any officers wey dem catch go face severe punishments.
Him com finally tori say, di CP say make di public dey patients with police, and make dem make sure say dem dey report any bad behavior from police officers to dis numbers wey we di people dey see.
